Crossroads is expanding our Outreach Ministry! In our Leadership meeting on Sunday night, we agreed to partner with a young couple from Columbus who are on staff with Campus Crusade for Christ (CRU). Travis and Kristy Ell shared with our MLT their call to the ministry with CRU. We will now be a supporting church involved with their outreach to over 30 college campuses throughout Ohio! We will also be posting their monthly newsletter on our “Wall of Fame” so our people can keep up with what they are doing.
Here’s some info about CRU’s ministry from last year: 10 million people were given an opportunity to know God personally! (That works out to someone hearing the Gospel every three seconds throughout the year!) Also, 119,000 people began a relationship with Christ – enough to fill two Astrodomes to max capacity! More than 3200 faculty and students went on summer missions projects this past year!
They also have helped send and sustain 750 foreign missionaries to 35 nations around the world! Crossroads Community Church is happy to partner with this area of ministry-outreach. Please keep Travis and Kristy in your prayers as they minister for Christ. Thank You!
Here’s this week’s article for London’s Madison Press. It will give you “Something To Think About”!
It’s Who You Know
I am a golf-a-holic. I admit it. I love the game of golf and I love to play it. For Christmas, my wife gives me tickets to Muirfield so I can go and watch the pros practice. I like the practice rounds better because I can take my camera and get some pretty good shots of the players. I can also get some autographs. On Tuesday, I got K.J. Choi, Camilo Vellegas, Adam Scott, Bo Hoag, Blake Adams, last years Master’s champ, Charl Schwartzel, and a ton of others. I also took some really good photos of them practicing.
After about four hours, I decided to walk around a little. I walked up to the clubhouse (from the 12th hole, it’s a good walk) and watched the pros on the putting green. Then, I headed over to the driving range and watched them there also. I saw Stewart Cink, Ricky Fowler, David Duval, Ernie Els and a host of others. As I was walking around the clubhouse, I noticed there were some areas that were roped off. If you didn’t have the proper credentials, you weren’t allowed past the green rope. There were areas roped off for the players, for the media, and for those who could afford to be there. Private parties were everywhere and without an invitation, I wasn’t going to be able to attend one. I couldn’t walk upon the putting green, or onto the driving range. I couldn’t even step onto the golf course because I didn’t have proper identification.
As I thought about that, it was apparent “it’s all about who you know.” I saw people getting into cars in areas where cars weren’t allowed because of who they were and who they knew. And I thought that one day, even though there were areas I couldn’t get into at Muirfield, there will not be one single square inch of space I will not be able to get into or touch when I get to Heaven. Why? It’s all about Who you know. If you know Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, as your personal Savior, then … you will be able to go anywhere you’d like to go when you get to Heaven.
As beautiful as Muirfield is, Heaven will be much more beautiful. There, I will be able to walk on streets of gold and spend my eternity with God forever. What a great day that will be. I hope you have accepted Christ as your Savior, too. And if you have, maybe we’ll “play a round” when we get there. It’s going to be beautiful. I hope to see you there.
Remember, God loves you just like you are, but He loves you too much to leave you like that.”
